Brief
ZX Lidars—a global leader in remote wind measurement—asked for a Word job description template that looked energetic on the careers page and remained effortless for hiring managers to edit. The initial JD had been created in-house by adapting a report layout; it worked, but felt basic. The aim was a snappy two-pager that foregrounds the role while projecting the brand’s personality. We retained the deep blue + orange identity (orange as accent) and lifted the new website’s banner style so the document feels connected to online content. Because this would be exported to PDF and posted to the site, we designed page-edge banners and artwork for a strong first impression. Editors needed click-to-type ease—drop in responsibilities, requirements, benefits and application details without wrestling with layout. The build stayed macro-free for portability and predictable behaviour across machines.
Approach
We rebuilt the JD as a disciplined, style-driven Word template. Theme colours locked the deep blue base with orange accents; theme fonts and a clean grid set margins, columns and safe areas. Page-edge brand banners were implemented as anchored shapes sized to bleed at export, with edit-view notes on print/PDF settings. The layout uses click-to-type placeholders for summary, responsibilities, required/desirable skills, benefits, location/contract and application steps. We added call-out panels and key-message boxes for emphasis, plus a compact icon-row style for quick-scan lists. Table styles handle salary bands or comparison blocks with accessible contrast and legible numerals. Artwork is vector wherever possible to keep files lean; no macros are embedded. A short usage panel guides banner swaps, accent use and exporting a crisp PDF with edge-to-edge visuals. We validated on typical Windows builds so pagination holds and colours render consistently online and in print.
Outcome
Hiring managers now publish distinctive, on-brand job descriptions in minutes. The style system prevents drift; click-to-type placeholders keep edits focused; and page-edge banners provide an energetic first impression that carries through to the website PDF. The orange accent lifts key details without overwhelming copy, while table styles keep structured information tidy. Because the template is macro-free and built on vectors, files stay compact and behave predictably across machines. Overall, ZX Lidars gets faster turnaround, stronger brand presence and consistent recruitment materials—delivered entirely in Microsoft Word.
