PowerPoint template with a flexible grid for a materials brand

We translated a London agency’s concept into an editable PowerPoint template with a flexible grid: movable dot matrices, L-bracket elements, disciplined slide master and ready slides. Clean visuals; easy authoring; on-brand results for a materials-focused team.

Let’s build a flexible grid deck.

Brief

Working in partnership with a London design agency, we were commissioned to turn their concept into a PowerPoint template that stayed faithful to the creative yet worked for everyday authoring. The hallmark of the design was a dot-based system and L-shaped bracket elements used to frame content. The team wanted the template to be genuinely flexible—not only through layouts and placeholders, but by allowing end users to move the dot grid and brackets to suit different stories. The brief therefore centred on a powerpoint template flexible grid that behaves like a guided canvas: strong brand structure when you need it, freedom when the content demands it. We also needed to ship a small set of sample slides so authors could start quickly, and to encode type and table defaults at theme level for consistent formatting. Above all, the template had to look clean, feel intuitive, and remain robust for non-designers creating decks at speed.

Approach

We began by rebuilding the brand system natively in PowerPoint—theme colours, font themes and a grid that governs margins, columns and safe areas. A disciplined slide master with custom layouts encoded spacing so titles, copy, captions and imagery align without nudging. To make the artwork truly movable, we developed a modular dot-grid and L-bracket components as vector groups with snap-friendly sizing, alignment presets and clearly named layers in the Selection Pane. Users can reposition, duplicate or scale these elements while the underlying master preserves rhythm. We supplied layout families (copy-first, image-first, two-column, mosaic) and engineered placeholders to protect aspect ratios and crop behaviour. A handful of sample slides—agenda, product/story panel, data highlight, quote—provide proven starting points. At a deeper level, we tuned Office XML defaults so text styles and table styles inherit brand settings, reducing manual formatting. Edit-view notes explain how to move brackets/grids, maintain balance and avoid distortion. Finally, we validated projector output and PDF export so the dot matrix renders cleanly at different sizes.

Outcome

Authors now build decks faster without losing the crafted look. The slide master maintains spacing and type, while the movable dot grid and L-brackets give editors creative control within brand rails. Sample slides reduce decision-making, and XML-level defaults keep text and tables on spec. Exports are clean and predictable—on screen and in PDF—so last-minute changes hold their shape. Overall, the template delivers a rare combination: a flexible canvas that still produces consistent, materials-brand-aligned presentations in Microsoft PowerPoint.
